Prep Time: 5 minutes

Cook Time: 15 minutes

Total Time: 20 minutes

Did you know that there was a way for fries to actually be healthier? Making sweet potato fries in the air fryer is so much healthier than frying, and reduces the fat and calories, without sacrificing taste.

Servings: 4 people

  • 2 Sweet potato
  • 2 tsp Oil
  • 1 tsp Paprika - optional
  • 1/2 tsp Salt
  • ¼ tsp Garlic powder - optional
  • 1/2 tsp Black pepper - fresh ground optional
  • Peel and slice each potato into even 1/4 inch (0.5 cm) thick fries.

  • In a large bowl with boiling water, soak sweet potato slices. Drain sweet potatoes; pat dry with paper towels.

  • In a large bowl, toss sweet potato, oil, paprika, salt, garlic powder and pepper (and/or any spices you may like*). Mix until all fries are evenly coated.

  • Place mixture into the air fryer.

  • Don't overcrowd the basket. 1-2 sweet potatoes may fit perfectly (mine is good for up to 1 kg (2 Lb) but if yours is smaller, do them in batches. To make sure they are all hot at the same time, you can add the batches that are cooked back in the air fryer and heat them for 1 minute, so everything is hot.

  • If yours have a temperature setting (mine doesn't), set your air fryer to 400°F (200°C).

  • Cook for 15 to 30 minutes.

  • Check and stir (this is a must if yours doesn't have this function, the heat on the bottom is stronger than the top, so turning is a must) after 10 minutes and then every 5 minutes until cooked through and golden brown. Don't be afraid to open the air fryer to check to see if they are done. **

  • Using a pair of tongs, carefully remove sweet potatoes from the air fryer to the plate. Serve immediately or let cool and store in an airtight plastic container.

  • It's delicious with this <a href="http://fast2eat.com/wp-admin/post.php?post=15494&amp;action=edit" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Perfect Air Fryer Juicy Steak Fast2eat</a>

*If you like, you can also add slices of bacon (or turkey bacon), cut into small pieces, or cubed pancetta. My daughter also likes it with rosemary.

**If your fries are cut a little thicker, they will take longer to cook. Be sure to cut the sweet potato into similar-sized pieces, so they cook evenly. Or make sure to remove any smaller ones that are lightly browned and crisped.

If you don't have an air fryer, you can also bake them in the oven. Baking sheet pan, foil or parchment paper. Oven on 450°F (230°C, better yet on convection bake. Voila! You have a way to make Sweet Potato fries just like an air fryer. Easy to clean up, too.

Depending on your air fryer, it may come out crispy or not. Mine was tasty but not crispy. They are definitely crisper than sweet potato fries made in the oven. Additionally, soaking the sweet potato slices in water helps remove the starch, making for a crispier one.

What is an Air Fryer?

An air fryer is a compact countertop convection oven that cooks by circulating hot air around the food at high speed and evaporate the moisture off the exterior of your food to give it a crispy crunch.

Due to the small cooking space, the high heat and a good fan that circulates the heat evenly all around the food, you get crispy outside without overcooking the inside better than any regular convection oven.

The Air fryer is like a deep fryer without tons of oil and grease.

Is it healthy to use an air fryer?

Yes, it's healthier than deep frying because you use less oil.

An air fryer is an excellent way to reduce a massive amount of fat and calories without sacrificing taste.

Since air fryers use air for cooking food, it doesn't require the extra calories that submerging food in oil would add.

There is nothing in the Air Fryer except hot air!

How to Keep Your Cutting Board from Slipping?

A cutting board that slips around as you chop is risky business.

The easiest way to keep your board stable is to grab a paper towel or a damp Kitchen Towel (thin cotton), or a piece of the non-slip mat or sponge cloth.

Wet it and wring it out as much water as possible, so it's just damp, then lay it out flat on your counter under your cutting board to create traction between the board and the counter.

It acts as a grip, preventing your board from moving around.

Blend-and-Bake Carrot Soufflé Fast2eat

The best part about this dish, unlike a traditional soufflé, is that it's incredibly easy to make; you don't have to whip up any egg whites. All you do is boil the carrots until tender, purée them in a food processor or blender with the other ingredients, pour the mixture into a casserole dish and bake.

It has everything you love about soufflés: an airy, delicate texture that almost melts in your mouth, and, of course, the sweetness and vivid colour of carrots.
